Freight Operations Supervisor

About the Role

The Senior Executive Ocean Operations (LCL) is responsible for managing end-to-end LCL shipment activities across import and export operations. The role involves planning and executing console shipments, including consolidation and coordination with global agents, co-loaders, and shipping lines. It ensures timely cargo movement while optimizing space utilization and controlling operational costs. The position requires strong expertise in shipping documentation, customs compliance, and manifest filing. Close monitoring of shipment timelines and proactive issue resolution are key to maintaining service quality.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end LCL shipment operations for both import and export
• Plan and execute console shipments, including consolidation and deconsolidation
• Coordinate with overseas agents, co-loaders, shipping lines, and internal teams
• Handle space booking, schedule planning, and ensure optimal container utilization
• Prepare, review, and validate shipping documentation (HBL, MBL, invoices, packing list, manifests, etc.)
• Ensure timely filing of manifests and compliance with customs and regulatory requirements
• Track shipments and monitor transit timelines to ensure on-time delivery
• Proactively identify and resolve operational issues, delays, or discrepancies
• Provide regular shipment updates and handle customer queries effectively
• Maintain accurate records and update shipment details in internal systems
• Monitor key performance indicators (TAT, cost efficiency, service quality)
• Drive process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs
• Liaise with vendors and service providers to ensure smooth execution of shipments
• Support and guide junior team members on daily operations and process adherence

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field
• 56 years of experience in ocean freight operations with strong exposure to LCL console handling
• Experience working with co-loaders and international freight networks
• Strong understanding of import/export documentation and customs procedures

Required Skills

• Strong experience in LCL console operations & consolidation planning
• Good knowledge of ocean freight processes, INCOTERMS & trade lanes
• Expertise in shipping documentation (HBL, MBL, manifests, invoices)
• Coordination with agents, co-loaders & shipping lines
• Shipment planning, space booking & cost optimization
• Problem-solving and handling operational exceptions
• Customer handling & stakeholder communication
• Proficiency in MS Excel and systems like Cargo Wise
• Ability to manage multiple shipments under deadlines
• Team support and process adherence
