Forward Deployed Engineer / Product Interface Engineer

About This Role:

We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer / Product Interface Engineer who sits at the intersection of product design and frontend engineering. This person should be able to lead frontend development, think architecturally, and build polished, production-ready product interfaces using modern AI coding tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead frontend development using tools like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini, and similar AI-assisted coding tools.
• Define frontend architecture, component structure, design patterns, and implementation standards.
• Design and implement clean, scalable, reusable UI components.
• Work closely with product and design to translate user workflows into intuitive product interfaces.
• Stay up to date with modern frontend, AI-assisted development, BI, dashboarding, and conversational UX patterns.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Software Development
• Strong hands-on experience with React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, and modern frontend tooling.
• Ability to write production-grade code using AI tools and skills effectively for prompting, implementation, refactoring, and debugging.
• Strong focus on design consistency, code quality, scalability, and maintainability.
• Experience building BI tools, dashboards, analytics products, or conversational UX interfaces.

The brief:

Existing BI dashboarding tools Power BI, Looker, QlikSense, Metabase, Tableau all make compromises on simplicity vs. power. Your job is to study these and set-up a BI dashboard tool geared towards a business user with no technical background.

You can limit your analysis to PowerBI and Looker (or any other tool geared towards a business user). You decide the scope - but everything you ship must be polished and deliberate.

We are not expecting a replication of Looker or Power BI. A small, well-chosen set of features executed exceptionally well is the goal not breadth. At minimum, a user must be able to add datasets, build a variety of charts, and add filters. However, the architecture should be able to scale to production.

What to deliver:

1. Working prototype: A live, interactive app accessible via a URL.

2. Link to the GitHub repository which should include:

• ARCHITECTURE.md How is your frontend architecture designed to scale to a production application: eg state management, client-side rendering etc.? How did these considerations affect tech stack choices?
• BUILD_LOG.md

NOTE: The backend is not being evaluated hardcoded data or a mock API is fine. We're focused entirely on the frontend.

Constraints:

• Tech stack: The frontend must be built in React. Use Plotly for all chart rendering. Beyond that, stack choices are yours your decisions around AI native tech stacks, state management, component libraries, and build tooling are part of what we're evaluating.
• Using AI tools is expected. We're not testing whether you can build without them. We're evaluating whether you can direct them well, make good judgments about what they produce, and move faster because of them.
