Head - Finance & Financial Controller
The role is responsible for business finance, cost control, budgeting, MIS, cash flow planning, financial projections, banking coordination, investor / management reporting and finance process automation. The candidate must combine strong accounting fundamentals with commercial judgement, analytical ability and excellent communication skills.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified Chartered Accountant with minimum 3 years post-qualification experience; corporate/industry experience preferred.
- Experience in mid-sized or fast-growing organizations, preferably with multi-location operations, technology platforms, services, research, media or digital businesses.
- Mumbai-based or willing to work from Mumbai office; comfortable in a structured, process-driven and deadline-oriented work environment.
- Strong analytical ability, ownership mindset, integrity, attention to detail and ability to work with lean finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, rolling projections and variance analysis across business units, departments, projects and cost centres.
- Design and monitor daily / weekly cost sheets, cost dashboards, burn analysis, utilisation reports and management action trackers.
- Drive cost monitoring, cost control initiatives, revenue-cost linkage, profitability analysis and actionable MIS for senior management.
- Prepare board / investor / lender MIS packs, cash flow statements, fund utilisation reports, runway analysis and financial models.
- Coordinate with banks, lenders, investors, consultants and internal leadership for funding, working capital, documentation and reporting.
- Support automation of finance workflows including approvals, purchase-to-pay, expense control, CRM-to-invoice flow, payroll and MIS dashboards.
- Review accounting outputs, closing numbers and compliance status to ensure finance reports are reliable for business decision-making.
- Create scalable finance policies for budgeting, expense approval, vendor onboarding, cost centre tagging and reporting discipline.
Systems, ERP & Digital Tools
- Strong command over Zoho Books; working knowledge of Zoho CRM, Zoho Payroll, Zoho Analytics, Tally / QuickBooks or similar ERP tools preferred.
- Excellent MS Excel and financial modelling skills; ability to prepare dashboards, MIS packs, cost trackers and projections independently.
- Good working knowledge of PowerPoint / Google Slides for management, banking and investor presentations.
- Exposure to Power BI / Zoho Analytics / dashboarding tools and process automation through forms, approval flows or workflow tools.
- Ability to implement reporting tags, cost centres, approval controls, data discipline and cross-functional system adoption.
Compliance / Governance Exposure
- Working knowledge of GST, TDS, income-tax, Companies Act and audit requirements sufficient to review finance outputs and avoid compliance gaps.
- Ensure financial control over statutory dues, payroll costs, vendor payments, expense approvals and regulatory reporting data.
- Coordinate with Head Accounts & Compliance, auditors, CS, tax consultants and legal advisors for integrated finance governance.

- Strong commercial acumen, analytical thinking and ability to convert data into decisions.
- Process orientation with capacity to build systems rather than depend on manual firefighting.
- Leadership ability to coordinate accounts, operations, HR, sales / project teams and external advisors.
- High ownership, confidentiality and ability to work in a structured, office-based environment.
Success Measures - First 12 Months
- Reliable monthly MIS and financial dashboard used by senior management for decision-making.
- Budget versus actual reporting, cost sheets and variance analysis implemented with clear accountability.
- Improved cost visibility, cash flow predictability and working capital discipline.
- Banking / investor reporting handled professionally with minimal rework.
- Finance processes automated and documented with reduced dependence on manual follow-ups.
