About the Role

We are seeking an experienced F5 DNS Engineer with strong telecommunications exposure and working knowledge of Packet Core environments. This role will focus on the design, support, optimisation, and troubleshooting of DNS infrastructure supporting critical mobile and data services. The ideal candidate will understand carrier-grade networks, high availability environments, and the importance of DNS performance within EPC / 5G Core ecosystems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, administer, and support enterprise and carrier-grade DNS platforms using F5 solutions.
  • Manage DNS traffic, load balancing, GSLB, and high availability configurations across multiple environments.
  • Support DNS services integrated with Packet Core networks including EPC, IMS, and 5G Core domains.
  • Investigate and resolve DNS-related service issues impacting subscriber services, mobile data, VoLTE, and signalling platforms.
  • Perform DNS capacity planning, tuning, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
  • Work closely with Packet Core, IP Network, Security, and Operations teams for end-to-end service assurance.
  • Analyse packet captures and logs to troubleshoot network and application connectivity issues.
  • Maintain disaster recovery and redundancy strategies for mission-critical DNS services.
  • Prepare technical documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and design artefacts.
  • Participate in change management, maintenance windows, and incident response activities.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with F5 DNS / GTM / BIG-IP DNS platforms.
  • Solid understanding of DNS architecture, recursive DNS, authoritative DNS, caching, delegation, and zone management.
  • Experience working in telecommunications or service provider environments.
  • Exposure to Packet Core technologies such as EPC, PCRF, HSS, MME, PGW, SGW, UPF, AMF, SMF, or IMS platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls, and network protocols.
  • Experience with Linux / Unix administration.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills using packet capture and monitoring tools.
  • Experience with high availability, clustering, and resilient network designs.
  • Knowledge of change control and production support processes.
