Engineering Manager

We're Hiring | Engineering Manager The Engineering Manager will be responsible for the engineering around the physical store operations and day to day realities, driving the performance and innovation of store operations including Store Inventory Management (SIM), Task Management and enhance the customer journey inside the store.

This role serves as the technical and delivery leader bridging engineering excellence and business value. The purpose is to enable seamless in-store experiences, ensure operational reliability, and lead the API-driven and AI-augmented platforms. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in enhancing developer productivity, embedding AI and LLM capabilities across engineering workflows, and ensuring system scalability and resilience across hundreds of stores.

The Engineering Manager will lead the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of enterprise store systems. The focus will be on building high-performing, reliable, and scalable retail applications that empower store associates, optimize inventory accuracy, and elevate the customer experience.

• An understanding of physical store operations and day to day realities, with hands on experience working closely with store colleagues to support smooth store execution.
• Proven ability to partner with store teams to improve customer and colleague experience through technology.
• Experience leading and supporting core store applications including Store Inventory Management (SIM), Task Management and colleague apps used daily by store associates.
• Demonstrated focus on building simple, reliable store systems that reduce friction for store colleagues and enhance the customer journey inside the store.
• Experience connecting data across store systems to ensure unified view of operations and process
• Ability to translate store floor challenges into practical, dependable technology solutions that work at scale across hundreds of physical stores
• Proven experience in large-scale transformation programs modernizing monolithic systems into microservices, APIs, or event-driven architectures.
• Proficiency in integration technologies: Metl, ACE, Kong Gateway, IBM API Gateway, and related middleware.
• Strong understanding of system performance tuning, observability, and scalability engineering in high-transaction retail environments.
• Working knowledge of AI and LLM technologies, with practical use cases applied in development or quality engineering.
• Demonstrated success leading engineering, QA, and DevOps teams using agile and outcome-based delivery frameworks.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP), containerization, and DevSecOps practices.
• Proven ability to drive technical excellence, define coding standards, and enforce engineering quality across large distributed teams.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with hands-on understanding of store application performance, integration bottlenecks, and data synchronization challenges.
• Experienced in establishing engineering KPIs such as code quality, developer productivity, deployment frequency, and incident resolution time.
• Track record of building scalable engineering culture that values automation, reuse, and continuous learning.

• Strong ability to convert business requirements into scalable technology architectures, balancing performance, security, and cost.
• Partner with product, business, and architecture teams to define and execute transformation initiatives across stores.
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of store systems across all retail formats.
• Champion engineering excellence coding standards, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and DevSecOps maturity.
• Build and mentor high-performing engineering teams fostering innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Strong domain experience in retail across Store Operations, Store inventory management & Task Management
• Experience in leading teams and exposure to work in cross-functional environment.

Required Technical Skills

• Java, Microservices, Spring Boot & solid in system design.
