Engineering Manager – AI Infrastructure & Distributed Database Platforms

We're hiring an Engineering Manager to lead one or more platform teams at our India site. This is a key leadership role with real organizational influence you'll help shape how we build and scale our India engineering function, with AI adoption and enablement as a core part of your mandate.

You will be expected to bring hands-on familiarity with AI/ML tooling, a sharp instinct for where AI can accelerate platform reliability and developer productivity, and the leadership credibility to drive a culture of intelligent automation across your teams.

What You'll Do

Team Leadership & Growth

• Lead and grow platform engineering teams in India, with scope to expand over time
• Coach engineers on technical growth, AI fluency, and career development; drive performance management
• Foster a high-performance, inclusive culture grounded in ownership, customer impact, and continuous learning

AI-Powered Platform Development

• Champion the adoption of AI-powered developer tooling, coding assistants, and intelligent observability across teams
• Drive the integration of LLM-based capabilities into internal platform workflows from test generation and root cause analysis to automated runbook synthesis
• Evaluate and pilot emerging AI/ML tools and frameworks, making pragmatic build-vs-buy decisions in collaboration with senior engineering leadership
• Work closely with the product and data science functions to embed AI features into the platform roadmap with clear success metrics

Strategy & Collaboration

• Partner with senior engineering and product leadership to define the platform roadmap
• Champion effective cross-geo collaboration across time zones and geographies
• Engage with the broader tech community through talks, meetups, and conferences particularly on AI in platform and developer tooling

What We're Looking For

Experience & Background

• 10+ years of engineering experience, with 24 years in engineering management or technical leadership
• Background managing platform, infrastructure, developer tooling, or cloud services teams
• Hands-on comfort with backend codebases Go, Python, or similar
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and distributed systems

AI / ML Expertise (Required)

• Demonstrated recent experience working with or leading teams that build AI-powered internal tooling, developer assistants, or intelligent automation systems
• Hands-on familiarity with large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, or AI agent frameworks in a production or near-production context
• Ability to evaluate AI/ML solutions critically understanding tradeoffs in latency, cost, accuracy, and observability
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into CI/CD pipelines, observability stacks, or developer productivity workflows is a strong plus
• Comfortable discussing AI ethics, responsible AI practices, and risk considerations with engineering and product stakeholders

• Strong systems-thinking mindset; ability to see how different teams' work interconnects
• Track record of cross-functional collaboration and people-first leadership
• Ability to translate AI strategy into concrete engineering plans with measurable outcomes
