Job Description

We're looking for an Electronics & Communication Engineer Robotics Hardware (13 yrs experience) to join our LAIA Innovation Pvt. Ltd. team in Bangalore.

This role is for hands-on engineers who have worked beyond theory and academic projects. You should be comfortable designing PCBs, wiring systems, testing circuits, debugging hardware, and integrating electronics into physical products.

If you have worked with PCBs, sensors, motors, actuators, microcontrollers, power systems and communication hardware for robotics, automation or hardware products, this role is for you.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design and improve electronics hardware for our automated delivery systems, including enclosures, robots / AGVs, charging systems and integration hardware.
  • Design and debug PCBs, including schematics, layouts, component selection, bring-up testing and revisions.
  • Work with microcontrollers and control boards such as Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, STM32, PLCs and off-the-shelf development boards.
  • Integrate sensors, switches, relays, motor drivers, power supplies, communication modules and safety circuits into hardware systems.
  • Work with motors and movement systems such as linear actuators, hub motors, DC motors, BLDC motors, lifting mechanisms and telescopic mechanisms.
  • Support power systems including 12V / 24V DC systems, battery-powered systems, SMPS supplies, DC-DC converters, fuses, wiring, connectors and grounding.
  • Support device communication using protocols such as UART, I2C, SPI, RS485, CAN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet or similar.
  • Test, debug and document hardware systems, including sensor testing, actuator testing, motor testing, communication testing, wiring diagrams, BOMs, pin mapping and test logs.
  • Work closely with the robotics, software, mechanical and founding teams to support product development, installation and troubleshooting.

Required Candidate Profile

Education:

  • Diploma / B.E / B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Mechatronics, Robotics, Instrumentation (or similar).

Experience:

  • 13 years of hands-on experience as an Electronics Engineer / Electronics & Communication Engineer / Hardware Engineer / Robotics Hardware Engineer / Automation Hardware Engineer or similar.
  • You should have worked on at least 2 hardware products, prototype, machine, robot, automation system or PCB that was actually built and tested.

Skills:

  • PCB design experience is mandatory, including schematic design, PCB layout, component selection, testing and debugging.
  • Good understanding of electronics hardware, circuits, wiring, sensors, motors, actuators and power systems.
  • Experience with PCB design tools such as KiCad, EasyEDA, Altium Designer, Eagle, Proteus, OrCAD or similar.
  • Experience with microcontrollers and control boards such as Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, STM32, PLCs or similar.
  • Understanding of communication protocols such as UART, I2C, SPI, RS485, CAN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet or similar.
  • Ability to integrate sensors, switches, relays, motor drivers, power supplies, communication modules and safety circuits.
  • Understanding of 12V / 24V DC systems, SMPS, DC-DC converters, fuses, connectors, wire selection and grounding.
  • Comfortable using electronics tools such as multimeter, oscilloscope, bench power supply, soldering station, crimping tools and basic hand tools.
  • Strong English communication is required. Kannada is good to have for local vendor and shop-floor coordination.

Good to Have

  • Prior work on robotics, AGVs, automation systems, industrial equipment, kiosks, lockers, or control panels.
  • Hands-on understanding of BLDC motors, hub motors, battery systems, charging docks or robot charging systems.
  • Familiarity with STM32, RS485, CAN bus, MQTT hardware integration or industrial communication.
  • Exposure to PCB production, assembly, testing and revision management.
  • Ability to support field installation, commissioning, troubleshooting or demo setup.

Important

  • This role is not for candidates who have only done basic academic electronics or simple Arduino projects.
  • We are looking for someone who can take ownership of electronics hardware across our products, work independently, debug practical issues and help us move from prototype hardware toward production-ready systems.

How to Apply

Please apply with:

  • Your updated CV and Portfolio to contact@laia.org with the subject: "Electronics & Communication Engineer Robotics Hardware"
  • A short note on two electronics / robotics / automation projects you worked on that was built and tested. Mention what the system was, your role, what electronics you handled and what problems you solved.
  • 23 images, PDFs or screenshots showing your PCB design, circuit schematic, wiring diagram, hardware setup, test setup or working prototype.
  • PCB files, schematics, BOMs, test logs or documentation samples are a strong plus.
