DSPM Engineer/Manager

Job Description (JD) for DSPM (Data Security Posture Management)

Role Overview

The Senior DSPM Engineer/Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing data security posture across enterprise environments. This role focuses on discovering, classifying, monitoring, and protecting sensitive data across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid systems, ensuring compliance and reducing data-related risks.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and management of DSPM tools and frameworks
• Discover and classify sensitive data (PII, PHI, financial, etc.) across systems
• Monitor data flows and identify risks such as overexposure, misconfigurations, and unauthorized access
• Define and enforce data security policies, standards, and best practices
• Integrate DSPM solutions with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and SaaS applications
• Work closely with security, compliance, and data engineering teams
• Perform risk assessments and prioritize remediation activities
• Support compliance initiatives (GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001, etc.)
• Automate data security processes and workflows
• Generate dashboards, reports, and insights for leadership

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field
• 15+ years of experience in cybersecurity or data security
• 5+ years of experience in DSPM implementation program or managing it
• Strong experience with DSPM, DLP, CASB, and/or data governance tools
• Knowledge of cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience with data classification, encryption, masking, and tokenization
• Good to have familiarity with databases (SQL/NoSQL), data lakes, and big data platforms
• Understanding of identity and access management (IAM)
• Good to have Strong scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, or similar)
• Familiarity with API security and its usage/integrations
• Encryption/Key Management standards and its working
• AI related standards
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks
• Good to have experience in DSPM tools BigID, Cyera, Securiti.ai, Varonis etc
• Good to have Certifications like CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CDLP
