Job Title: Director AI & Data Analytics

Budget: Upto 1.1 Cr (Fixed + Variable, based on experience and fit)

Role Summary:

The Director of Data Science & AI will lead efforts in building and scaling AI-driven products and services in this company. This role requires an AI leader who has built AI and data science teams from the ground up, managed teams ranging from 10 to 100+, and successfully delivered AI powered products. This leader will be responsible for working with the leadership team across functions to define AI strategy, managing geographically distributed AI and data science teams across the US and Bangalore, and ensuring AI innovation aligns with business objectives and regulatory requirements in the healthcare funding and payments industry.

Key Responsibilities:

AI & Data Science Strategy & Execution:

Collaborate with cross-functional leadership (Product, Engineering, Operations, Compliance, and Finance) to define and drive Alegeus AI and data science strategy.

Lead the development of agentic AI products that automate decision-making, enhance personalization, and improve operational efficiencies.

Identify high-impact AI and machine learning use cases, including predictive analytics, fraud detection, automated customer service, and intelligent financial management tools.

Ensure AI initiatives are ethically designed, regulatory-compliant (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.), and secure in handling sensitive healthcare and financial data.

Manage Data Engineering teams delivering on a vision of an AI-ready enterprise data platform, ensuring seamless data integration, transformation, and optimization to support advanced AI capabilities.

Team Leadership & Organizational AI Maturity:

Build and scale an AI and data science practice from the ground up, hiring, managing, and mentoring a high-performing team of Data Engineers, AI Engineers, Data Scientists, and ML Engineers.

Lead teams from 10 to 100 members, ensuring talent acquisition, training, and retention strategies foster a world-class AI organization.

Manage geographically distributed teams across the US and Bangalore, ensuring seamless collaboration, cultural alignment, and operational efficiency.

Drive AI literacy across the organization by collaborating with product, engineering, and business teams to integrate AI capabilities into Alegeus' core offerings.

Cultivate a culture of AI-first thinking, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration.

AI Product Development & Deployment:

Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered products that create tangible business value in healthcare payments, funding accounts, and personalized consumer experiences. Oversee AI-powered conversational agents, workflow automation, and decision-support systems to improve customer and partner interactions.

Work closely with product and engineering teams to deploy AI solutions at scale within Alegeus technology ecosystem.

Implement MLOps best practices to ensure AI models are robust, continuously improving, and operationally efficient.

Data Strategy & Governance:

Work with the enterprise AI taskforce and data governance frameworks that ensure compliance, security, and responsible AI practices.

Drive data strategy to optimize data pipelines, analytics infrastructure, and AI model performance.

Leverage AI to enhance data-driven decision-making, risk assessment, and fraud prevention across healthcare financial transactions.

Industry Leadership & Innovation:

Keep Alegeus at the forefront of AI-driven healthcare payment solutions, identifying and integrating emerging AI trends and technologies.

Build external partnerships with AI research institutions, healthcare providers, and fintech innovators to accelerate AI-driven capabilities.

Represent Alegeus in industry conferences, AI thought leadership forums, and regulatory discussions on AI in healthcare finance.

Qualifications & Experience Must-Have Qualifications:

15+ years of experience in Analytics, Data Science, AI, or closely related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role (Director or above).

Proven experience building AI and data science teams from scratch and scaling teams from 10 to 100.

Successfully delivered AI-powered products, from conception to deployment, that created real business impact.

Deep knowledge of AI/ML technologies, LLMs, NLP, computer vision, and reinforcement learning.

7+ years in Software Product Company delivering products to market.

Strong understanding of AI governance, ethics, data privacy laws (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.), and regulatory compliance in AI-driven healthcare payment systems.

Experience in MLOps, cloud AI deployment (AWS, Azure, GCP), and data infrastructure optimization.

Proven ability to manage geographically distributed teams across the US and Bangalore, ensuring productivity, cultural alignment, and operational efficiency.

Experience managing Data Engineering teams to support an AI-ready enterprise data platform.

Demonstrated ability to work across leadership functions to integrate AI strategy into business goals.

Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience leading AI innovation in a healthcare payments or fintech environment.

Background in financial modeling, AI-powered payment systems, or healthcare funding analytics.

Experience with AI-powered consumer engagement tools, AI-driven claims processing, or smart financial assistants.

Strong relationships with AI research labs, tech vendors, and industry leaders.
