Responsible for planning and designing new software and application user experience for embedded systems. Edits new and existing applications. Implements, testing and debugging defined software components. Documents all development activity. Works with moderate guidance in own area of knowledge.

Job Title: Development Engineer 2

Experience: 2.5 years to 4.5 years

Location: Chennai

Required Skills: JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS, Embedded C / C++

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Reference UI applications for RDK-based platforms. • Develop cross-platform interfaces using Flutter (Dart) to support companion or multi-screen experiences.

• Integrate Flutter UI components with RDK backend services • Implement responsive and intuitive user interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Redux).

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver seamless user experiences.

• Integrate UI components with RDK services and APIs for video playback, device settings, and interactive features.

• Optimize performance for low-resource embedded environments. • Troubleshoot and resolve UI-related issues across multiple device types. • Ensure compliance with RDK standards and best practices. Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), React, Redux.

• Strong knowledge of Flutter and Dart (widgets, state management, animations, layouts).

• Experience with RDK UI frameworks and Lightning or similar UI libraries. • Familiarity with video streaming protocols (DASH, HLS) and DRM technologies. • Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles.

• Experience with embedded systems or STB development is a plus. • Understanding of Agile development practices and version control (Git).

• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Node.js for backend integration.

• Knowledge of performance optimization for embedded devices. • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.

• Experience developing for TV UX, OTT platforms, or 10-foot interfaces. • Background in design systems or UX prototyping tools (Figma, Sketch, XD).

Core Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and determines integration needs.
  • Evaluates and plans software designs, test results and technical manuals.
  • Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
  • Programs new software, web applications, user interface and supports new applications under development and the customization of current applications.
  • Edits and reviews technical requirements documentation.
  • Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.
  • Displays knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.
  • Displays knowledge of and ability to apply, process design and redesign skills.
  • Displays in-depth knowledge of and ability to apply, project management skills.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
