To strengthen our data backbone and analytics capability, we are looking for a skilled Database Backend & BI Engineer who can ensure high-performance databases, accurate reporting, and reliable dashboards.

Role Overview:

The Database Backend & BI Engineer will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and managing relational databases, writing high-performance SQL queries, and developing Power BI dashboards that support operational, clinical, and management decision-making.This role plays a critical part in handling large volumes of healthcare data, ensuring system reliability, and enabling real-time insights for internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Database & Backend Responsibilities

• Design, maintain, and optimize relational databases (MySQL / PostgreSQL / SQL Server).
• Write and manage complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions.
• Perform SQL query optimization, indexing, and execution plan analysis to improve performance.
• Manage large-scale datasets generated from device integrations, screening camps, and health programs.
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, security, and compliance with healthcare data standards.
• Support backend application teams by ensuring fast and reliable database performance.
• Monitor database health, conduct performance tuning, and plan for scalability.

Business Intelligence & Analytics (Power BI)

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for leadership, operations, and government reporting.
• Build efficient data models, relationships, and calculations using DAX.
• Integrate Power BI with SQL databases and optimize data refresh and performance.
• Create automated and scheduled reports for internal teams, CSR partners, and public health programs.
• Translate business and healthcare requirements into clear, actionable visual insights.
• Implement data validation, consistency checks, and governance within BI systems.

Required Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in SQL, including advanced joins, subqueries, CTEs, window functions, and aggregations.
• Proven experience in SQL performance optimization and database tuning.
• Hands-on experience with Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and dashboard design.
• Solid understanding of relational database design, indexing, normalization, and partitioning.
• Experience working with backend systems and APIs for data consumption.
• Basic understanding of ETL processes and data pipelines.

Professional Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of data systems.
• Clear communication skills to collaborate with product, operations, and leadership teams.
• Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare, MedTech, diagnostics, or public health data systems.
• Exposure to government dashboards, CSR reporting, or large-scale field data.
• Knowledge of Power BI Service, Row-Level Security (RLS), and access control.
• Familiarity with data privacy, security, and compliance best practices.
