Summary:
Plans computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries. Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.Duties & Responsibilities:
Job Summary**
Viavi Solutions India Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a skilled Database Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our critical database systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
Job Responsibilities**
* Install, configure, and upgrade database servers (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and related tools.
* Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to optimize efficiency and reliability.
* Perform routine database maintenance tasks including backups, restores, patching, and data archiving.
* Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access control, data encryption, and auditing.
* Develop and implement database recovery plans and procedures.
* Collaborate with development teams to design, implement, and optimize database schemas and queries.
* Manage database capacity planning and provide recommendations for hardware and software upgrades.
* Document database configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
* Provide on-call support for critical database issues as needed.
* Evaluate and implement new database technologies and best practices.
Job Qualifications**
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
* Proven experience as a Database Administrator, preferably with multiple database technologies (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server).
* Strong understanding of database architecture, design, and tuning concepts.
* Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).
* Experience with database backup and recovery strategies.
* Familiarity with database security principles and best practices.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
