Job Description
Position: IT - Sr. Database Administrator / Sr. Systems Engineer
Location:Noida, India / Bengaluru, India
Key Responsibilities:
1.Be part of team providing 24*7 support for databases supporting businesscritical applications.
2.Troubleshoot and resolve database performance and availability issues in a timely and efficient manner, acting as a primary responder. Responsibilities include root cause analysis and postincident remediation.
3.Administer the full lifecycle of databases (Installation, Patching, Upgrades), space and user management across Windows and Linux.
4.Be willing to learn and work across Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres and Cloud databases.
5.Proactively monitor database health, capacity, and performance to implement optimizations before they impact business.
6.Design, support, and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions for production databases.
7.Own the end-to-end backup and recovery strategy (e.g., RMAN, logical backups), ensuring compliance & RPO/RTO objectives are met through regular restoration testing.
8.Execute database changes in accordance with change management and production safety standards.
9.Enforce database security controls including access management and audit compliance.
10. Facilitate continuous improvement within the environment. Leverage tools / AI agents / Unix shell scripting for automation and operational efficiency
11. Collaborate with application, infrastructure and security teams and actively participate in team meetings to support business requirements.
12. Maintain and continuously improve operational documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and policies, runbooks and best practices.
13. Be flexible to learn and grow for opportunities outside database administration, as per organization needs
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a DBA working with Oracle and strong understanding of Oracle Database architecture
Proven experience in backup and recovery strategies.
Strong skills in performance tuning and query optimization.
Familiarity with database monitoring tools and techniques.
Good understanding of database security and compliance standards.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with automation tools and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
Exposure to cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL).
Oracle Data Guard
Oracle Materialized Views Replication
Experience with databases like SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres
Certification in Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server is a plus.
Soft Skills:
Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts and document operational designs.
Keen attention to detail and complex problem-solving abilities from an operational and technical perspective.
Ability to work independently across functions and engage supervisor as needed.
