About the role

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms, pipelines, and services that support critical business functions. In this role, you will work across the technology stack, developing solutions that span data ingestion, transformation, APIs, and supporting user interfaces. You will collaborate with distributed teams and stakeholders worldwide while driving engineering excellence, automation, and process improvements. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with deep data engineering expertise and a passion for building reliable, scalable systems.


Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms, pipelines, and services.
  • Develop solutions across the stack, including data ingestion, transformation, APIs, and supporting user interfaces.
  • Integrate AI/ML capabilities into data workflows where relevant.
  • Optimize systems for performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Take ownership of features and projects from design through delivery and support.
  • Work closely with global teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Contribute to engineering standards, automation, testing, and process improvement.


Must have skills

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in data platform or full-stack development.
  • Strong experience with Python and modern software engineering practices.
  • Experience building data pipelines, APIs, and scalable backend systems.
  • Strong SQL and data engineering skills.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms and modern data tools.
  • Ability to work independently in a distributed team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and ownership mindset.


Nice to have skills

  • Experience with AI/ML or analytics-driven applications.
  • Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks.
  • Exposure to search, NoSQL, or data warehouse technologies.
  • Experience in financial services or other data-intensive industries.


Conditions

  • On-site role. Candidates must be based in Bangalore, India.
  • Contractor role 12-month contract (renewable, possible C2H).
  • Full-time dedication (40 hours/week).
  • Up to USD 5.5k per month. Salary will be paid via Payoneer or Cadena. You can then send the funds to your local bank account. Talent will be responsible for managing their taxes.
