Job Description

General Background


The Squad Lead role provides operational oversight and manages the pre-migration activities against the T minus timeline for each migration event.

The role is responsible for direct management of the Business Relationship Manager (BRM), Migration Analyst, Implementation Manager and Change Analyst. While these resources will be expected to deliver independently, the role will be expected to act as a resolution agent for any risks/issues which are likely to impact critical path activities.

Where appropriate, assistance should be requested from the portfolio where formal escalation is required.

The Squad Lead will be provided with a standard set of templates and a shared folder structure to enable a high level of standardisation.

The Squad Lead is responsible for the presentation of host and migration dispositioning, raising risks/issues, facilitation of Go/No Go meetings and Post Implementation Reviews (PIRs).


Responsibilities


  • Adhere to the overall Portfolio governance structure, adhere to the E2E process for delivering projects whilst understanding the wider context of the timescales and impact to critical path.
  • Understand and formally socialise Migration Event dates assigned to your squad.
  • Host daily stand-up meetings to review progress, discuss issues and challenges and ensure activities are on track for each migration event as per the T minus timeline.
  • Understand the workload of your team and prioritise as appropriate.
  • Ensure that the Squad adheres to the Portfolio T minus schedule migration checklist.
  • Ensure DTM is utilised by all squad members (BRM, MA, IM) and kept up to date for assigned Move Packages. Any agreed changes must be reflected in DTM in a timely manner to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Ensure dropouts are kept to a minimum and DTM is updated so that hosts are accurately reflected in the drop out report.
  • Attend CAB to support the Migration Analyst and other Squad Leads in rescheduling hosts as required.
  • Ensure DTM is updated correctly after each migration event to ensure accurate reporting and billing.
  • Ownership of weekly reporting & portfolio dashboards inputs are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Identify risks/issues and ensure they are recorded on the RAID Board for tracking.
  • Attend weekly RAID review meetings and provide a status on open risks & issues if required.
  • Collate and consolidate updates on the Kanban board for presentation to the customer at the weekly Project Board if applicable.
  • Build and own relationships with Customer Stakeholders, provide regular updates and communicate frequently on status updates.
  • Understand the combined resource requirements of multiple projects, consolidate, and make efficient use of resources drawing on the experience and knowledge of the wider portfolio where possible.
  • Ensure regular engagement with Technical Leads, Planning Lead and the Squad
  • Ensure that success is communicated on the appropriate Teams board and Customer Feedback is requested and communicated after events.
  • Be prepared to help other leads and the portfolio when needed with tasks outside the agreed remit (looking left & right)
  • Ensure annual leave is logged in the central holiday tracker and managed effectively ensuring there is adequate coverage within the squad.
  • Cover holiday / absences (where and when required) to ensure the smooth running of the portfolios different work streams under your remit.
  • Be prepared to step into any of the squad roles running up to and during any weekend events as and when required.
  • Ensure that a deputy has been identified and that they are clear on their responsibilities.
  • Some weekend work / cover will be required


Essential Skills


  • Experience working on complex technical migration project(s)
  • Experience of leading teams, both direct, matrix, onshore & offshore
  • Experience of developing team members
  • Experience using Agile Kanban tools and collaboration tools e.g., MS Teams and Zoom.
  • Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
  • Proactive, self-starter and ability to work within deadlines.
  • Attention to detail

  • Experience working in finance or banking industry.
  • Experience working on a complex migration programme.
