About the Role
We are looking for a highly detail-oriented and product-driven Consumer Product CAD Engineer to join our product development team. This role will be responsible for converting product ideas, sketches, and concepts into accurate, manufacturable, and production-ready CAD models for our growing lifestyle and consumer product portfolio.
The ideal candidate should understand both product aesthetics and manufacturing feasibility, with strong expertise in DFM (Design for Manufacturing), tooling logic, assemblies, and vendor-ready CAD development.
You will work closely with product, sourcing, QC, and manufacturing teams to bring high-quality consumer products to life across categories such as bottles, lunch boxes, tiffins, insulated products, and kitchenware.
Key Responsibilities
Create accurate 3D CAD models from sketches, references, product concepts, and sample inputs
Develop both concept-level CAD and production-ready DFM CAD files
Prepare STEP, IGES, OBJ, STL, and technical manufacturing files for vendors and tooling partners
Create detailed part drawings, assembly drawings, exploded views, and dimension specifications
Validate manufacturability including:
- Wall thickness
- Draft angles
- Parting lines
- Tolerances
- Undercuts
- Ribs and snap fits
- Assembly feasibility
Coordinate with tooling vendors and manufacturers to revise CAD based on tooling, sampling, and production feedback
Support new product development across categories including bottles, insulated products, tiffins, lunch boxes, kitchen accessories, and lifestyle products
Create basic product sketches and technical illustrations to explain form, grip, mechanism, construction, and usage
Work closely with sourcing, industrial design, QC, and operations teams during product development cycles
Ensure CAD outputs are manufacturer-friendly and optimized for production efficiency
Maintain organized CAD libraries, revisions, and product documentation
Required Skills & Qualifications
1 4 years of experience in CAD engineering or product development for consumer products, lifestyle products, kitchenware, plastics, or FMCG-related categories
Strong expertise in:
- SolidWorks
- Fusion 360
- Rhino
- AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
Knowledge of:
- Plastic moulding
- Silicone parts
- Metal components
- Tooling and assemblies
Ability to create production-ready CAD and technical documentation
Understanding of product aesthetics, ergonomics, and form development
Basic sketching and visualization capability
Strong communication skills with vendors, factories, sourcing, and QC teams
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving ability
