JOB TITLE: Cloud Solution Architect Infrastructure

DEPARTMENT: Business Technology Systems group (BTS)

The Cloud Solution Architect Infrastructure is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise cloud infrastructure on AWS, including networking, security, storage, and platform foundations. This role ensures scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure architectures that support enterprise applications and digital transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities include defining cloud infrastructure strategy, standards, governance, and best

practices, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and security policies. This individual

collaborates with cross-functional teams to design and implement infrastructure platforms that are

highly available, cost optimized, automated, and secure by design.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

1. Will lead infrastructure architecture and provide technical guidance across platform, cloud, and

engineering teams

SPECIFIC DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES (List in order of importance)

Cloud Infrastructure Architecture

Define and maintain enterprise cloud infrastructure architecture on AWS

Design scalable, resilient, and secure infrastructure solutions supporting enterprise

applications

Establish standards for compute, networking, storage, and platform services

Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and cloud strategy

Networking Architecture

Design and implement secure, scalable network architectures (VPCs, subnets, routing, load

balancing)

Define hybrid connectivity patterns (VPN, Direct Connect) between on-prem and cloud

environments

Architect network segmentation, isolation, and traffic control strategies

Ensure high availability and low-latency network design across regions and environments

Cloud Security Architecture

Define and enforce cloud security standards and best practices

Design identity and access management (IAM), role-based access, and least privilege models

Implement network security controls (security groups, NACLs, WAF, private endpoints)

Ensure compliance with enterprise security, audit, and regulatory requirements

Drive security integration across infrastructure, applications, and APIs

Storage & Data Infrastructure

Design and optimize cloud storage solutions (object storage, block storage, file systems)

Define data storage strategies aligned with performance, cost, and durability requirements

Enable backup, disaster recovery, and data lifecycle management strategies

Ensure data protection, encryption, and compliance across storage platforms

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation

Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation)

Define reusable templates and modules for infrastructure provisioning

Enable automated deployments, environment consistency, and version control

Integrate IaC into CI/CD pipelines for end-to-end automation

Scalability, Reliability & Resilience

Design highly available and fault-tolerant infrastructure architectures

Implement auto-scaling, failover, and disaster recovery strategies

Define SLAs, SLOs, and reliability standards for infrastructure platforms

Optimize infrastructure for cost, performance, and operational efficiency

Observability & Operations

Define monitoring, logging, and alerting strategies across infrastructure layers

Enable observability using cloud-native and third-party tools

Support incident management, problem resolution, and root cause analysis

Establish operational runbooks and standards for infrastructure management

Governance, Compliance & Cost Management

Establish governance frameworks for cloud infrastructure usage

Define standards for tagging, cost allocation, and resource optimization

Ensure compliance with enterprise policies, standards, and audit requirements

Drive FinOps practices for cost visibility and optimization

Technical Leadership & Collaboration

Lead infrastructure architecture discussions across engineering, security, and platform

teams

Mentor teams on cloud infrastructure best practices and platform capabilities

Review infrastructure designs and deployments for compliance and quality

Collaborate with application architects, DevOps teams, and vendors

BASIC QUALIFICIATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in related field

10+ years of infrastructure and cloud engineering experience

5+ years of experience designing AWS cloud infrastructure solutions

Strong experience in:

o Cloud networking (VPC, routing, hybrid connectivity)

o Cloud security (IAM, network security, compliance)

o Cloud storage (object, block, and file storage solutions)

o Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation)

Strong understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, and resilience patterns

Experience designing secure, scalable, enterprise-grade infrastructure

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional preferred)

Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud architectures

Strong knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, and automation practices

Experience implementing enterprise security frameworks and compliance standards

Experience supporting large-scale digital transformation initiatives

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Experience working in cross-functional and global teams

Proven ability to drive infrastructure modernization initiatives
