Role Overview
We are looking for a Behavioral Scientist / Consumer Insights Researcher who is passionate about understanding why consumers behave the way they do.
This role sits at the intersection of behavioral science, market research, and data-driven strategy, and will play a key role in shaping product, marketing, and customer experience decisions through deep consumer insights.
Key Responsibilities
Behavioral Research & Consumer Studies
- Design and execute qualitative and quantitative research to understand consumer motivations, attitudes, and decision-making patterns
- Apply behavioral science frameworks (e.g., cognitive biases, heuristics, nudge theory)
- Conduct in-depth interviews (IDIs), focus groups (FGDs), ethnographic and observational research
- Develop customer journey maps and behavioral flow analyses
Survey Design & Quantitative Insights
- Design structured surveys and experimental studies (A/B testing, conjoint analysis, etc.)
- Manage end-to-end research lifecycle: design data collection analysis insights
- Apply statistical techniques such as regression, factor analysis, clustering, etc.
Consumer Segmentation & Profiling
- Build behavioral and psychographic consumer segments
- Create data-backed personas to guide product and marketing strategies
- Track evolving user behavior and update segmentation models
Insight Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Translate research findings into actionable insights and business recommendations
- Create compelling reports and presentations for stakeholders
- Collaborate with product, marketing, UX, and strategy teams
Research Operations & Vendor Management
- Work with external research vendors and ensure data quality
- Maintain research repositories and knowledge systems
- Ensure adherence to research best practices
Trend Intelligence & Competitive Research
- Track consumer trends and behavioral shifts in the market
- Leverage secondary research, reports, and industry insights
Key Skills & Competencies
Core Skills
- Strong foundation in Behavioral Science / Consumer Psychology
- Expertise in qualitative & quantitative research methodologies
- Experience with tools like SPSS / R / Python (preferred)
- Familiarity with survey platforms (Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, etc.)
- Ability to translate behavioral insights into business impact
- Strong storytelling and stakeholder communication skills
Good to Have
- Exposure to UX research / usability testing / design thinking
- Knowledge of behavioral economics / nudges / decision science
- Experience with Power BI / Tableau
- Understanding of CX metrics (NPS, CSAT, CES)
- Experience in BFSI / fintech / consumer tech
Education & Experience
- Bachelors or Masters degree in:
- Psychology / Behavioral Science
- Sociology / Anthropology
- Market Research / Consumer Behavior
- MBA (Marketing / Strategy)
- Data Science (with behavioral focus)
- 25 years of experience in behavioral research, consumer insights, or market research
- Experience in BFSI / FMCG / Consumer Tech environments preferred
