ETRM Beacon Platform

Role Purpose

The Beacon Developer will design, build, and enhance solutions on the Beacon ETRM platform, supporting modern energy trading, risk management, analytics, and reporting use cases. The role contributes to platform extensions, batch and intraday processing, system integrations, and performance optimisation while ensuring high code quality and alignment with enterprise delivery standards.

The role requires strong backend development skills, handson Beacon platform experience, and the ability to work effectively within Agile/Scrum delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance functionality on the Beacon ETRM platform, supporting trading, risk, analytics, and reporting workflows.
• Build and maintain server-side components, batch jobs (EOD / SOD), and intraday processing pipelines.
• Extend Beacon using Pythonbased frameworks, dependency graphs, and platform components.
• Develop and maintain integrations with upstream and downstream systems (market data, trading platforms, analytics, reporting, and regulatory feeds).
• Participate in solution design, from requirement analysis through technical design and implementation.
• Collaborate closely with product owners, Scrum teams, QA, and architecture teams to deliver highquality solutions.
• Improve platform performance, scalability, and stability, particularly for EOD and highvolume processing.
• Support creation and maintenance of unit tests and regression test suites to ensure ongoing platform stability.
• Provide regular status updates, actively contributing to sprint ceremonies and delivery planning.
• Maintain highquality technical documentation, including design decisions and operational runbooks.

Beacon Platform & ETRM Skills

• Experience working with Beaconbased ETRM platforms or similar modern trading and risk systems.
• Understanding of:
• Job scheduling and workload orchestration (EOD / intraday jobs)
• Parallel processing and gridbased execution
• Core ETRM data concepts (trades, positions, curves, valuations, risk)
• Exposure to:
• Risk metrics (e.g. VaR, sensitivities)
• Market data processing
• Regulatory and reporting workflows

Desirable Skills

• Experience with Beacon platform frameworks such as:
• Pythonbased calculation or dependency frameworks
• UI or service extensions built on modular architectures
• Experience with cloudhosted platforms (AWS preferred).
• Exposure to performance tuning in largescale compute environments.
• Experience in greenfield development or platform modernisation programmes.
• Knowledge of energy and commodities markets (power, gas, emissions).

Experience

• 48 years of enterprise development experience.
• Proven track record of delivering productiongrade solutions in complex technical environments.
