Job Profile: NetBackup (L3) Support Engineer

Location: Noida, India

Employment Type: Full-time, WFO

Preferred experience: 10-12 years

The Role

We are seeking an experienced NetBackup Level 3 Engineer with strong expertise in enterprise backup and recovery solutions. The candidate will be responsible for advanced troubleshooting, performance optimization, infrastructure design, and ensuring high availability of backup environments across large-scale enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

Provide Level 3 support for NetBackup infrastructure, including advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Design, implement, and maintain NetBackup architectures (Master, Media Servers, Clients, Storage Units).

Manage backup policies, schedules, retention, and SLAs for mission-critical systems.

Perform backup and restore operations across platforms (Windows, Linux, UNIX, Oracle, SQL, VMware, NAS, Cloud).

Troubleshoot complex issues related to backup failures, performance, storage, tape, and disk-based backups.

Optimize backup performance, deduplication, storage lifecycle policies, and capacity planning.

Implement and manage NetBackup upgrades, patches, migrations, and disaster recovery planning.

Handle catalog backups, restores, and recovery planning.

Work with tape libraries (LTO).

Ensure security, encryption, immutability (WORM), and ransomware protection best practices.

Collaborate with infrastructure teams (Storage, OS, Database, Virtualization, Cloud) for issue resolution.

Maintain documentation, SOPs, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.

Provide mentoring and guidance to L1/L2 teams.

Participate in on-call support and critical incident management.

Must - Have Qualifications:

NetBackup Core Expertise

Strong hands-on experience with Veritas NetBackup (Administration, Troubleshooting, Architecture)

Master Server, Media Server, Clients, Storage Lifecycle Policies (SLP)

Tape Libraries, Disk Storage, MSDP, Deduplication

DR, and Catalog Recovery

Backup Technologies & Platforms

VMware / Hyper-V backup and restore

Oracle RMAN, SQL Server, SAP HANA, DB2 backups

NAS (NFS/SMB), CIFS, NDMP backups

Kubernetes / OCP (OpenShift) backup integration (preferred)

Storage & Infrastructure

SAN/NAS storage (NetApp, EMC, HPE, Huawei preferred)

Tape Libraries (LTO-7/LTO-8/LTO-9)

Operating Systems & Scripting

Windows, Linux, UNIX administration basics

Performance monitoring and log analysis
