FenixCommerce is a logistics AI platform powering estimated delivery dates, carrier cost optimization, and omnichannel fulfillment intelligence for leading retail and DTC brands. Our platform processes millions of decisions daily, and we need engineers who build at a pace and scale that most teams can't match.

The Role

We're not looking for a developer who uses AI occasionally. We want someone who has fundamentally rewired how they work - someone who treats AI as a force multiplier across every phase of engineering: architecture, coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and deployment. You should be producing the output of a small team, not because you work 80-hour weeks, but because you've mastered the tooling to operate at 10x scale.

If you still write every line by hand and think AI-assisted development is a gimmick, this isn't the role.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and own backend microservices in Java/Spring Boot that power real-time logistics decisions - shipping features at a pace that surprises even you
• Architect and optimize Elasticsearch clusters used as the primary database - indexing strategies, mapping design, query performance tuning, and cluster scaling
• Build and maintain high-throughput data processing pipelines ingesting from Shopify, carrier APIs, and fulfillment systems
• Own the AWS infrastructure your services run on - EC2/ECS, S3, SQS, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM
• Use AI tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or whatever you've adopted) as a core part of your daily workflow - not as a novelty, but as infrastructure
• Move fast across the full stack when needed - write the code, write the tests, write the docs, deploy it, monitor it

What You Bring

• 4+ years of hands-on backend development with Java and Spring Boot as your core stack
• Deep, production-level experience with Elasticsearch as a database you've designed indices, managed clusters, debugged slow queries, and scaled beyond basic use cases
• Strong AWS experience - you've deployed, monitored, and troubleshot services in production
• Demonstrable AI-native workflow - you can articulate exactly how AI tools have changed your velocity, quality, and approach to problem-solving. Show us your setup.
• A track record of operating at 10x scale - whether that means you shipped a feature backlog that would take most teams a quarter, or you single-handedly built and maintained systems that others needed a team for
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems
• Experience with CI/CD, Docker, and infrastructure automation
• High ownership mentality - you don't wait for specs, you clarify ambiguity and ship

Nice to Have

• Experience with Shopify or ecommerce platform integrations
• Familiarity with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS-based messaging
• Exposure to logistics, supply chain, or fulfillment problems
• Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation
• Contributions to open source or a strong GitHub profile that shows range and velocity

We don't care about leetcode scores. We'll look at:

• Your GitHub - volume, quality, and breadth of work
• A take-home assignment where AI-assisted development is explicitly encouraged, we want to see how you leverage it, not whether you avoid it
• A live walkthrough of your AI-augmented development workflow
• How you think about system design under real-world constraints
