As platform traffic and real-time integrations continue to scale, we are looking for a strong backend engineer who can optimize application performance, database architecture, and API efficiency for high-scale fintech operations.

This role is critical for improving system stability, reducing database load, and preparing SwipeLoan for the next stage of scale.

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Backend & Database Performance Engineer with strong expertise in:

• Laravel / PHP backend development
• MySQL query optimization
• API performance tuning
• High-traffic application architecture
• AWS-based production environments

The candidate will work closely with the product, backend, and infrastructure teams to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across the platform.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Performance Optimization

• Optimize existing Laravel/PHP application architecture
• Reduce API response time and improve application efficiency
• Identify and resolve backend bottlenecks

Database Optimization

• Analyze and optimize slow SQL queries
• Design and improve indexing strategies
• Optimize joins, filters, pagination, and query execution plans
• Monitor and reduce RDS CPU spikes

Scalability & Stability

• Improve system handling for concurrent users and API traffic
• Work on caching strategies (Redis/Memcached)
• Support scalable architecture improvements

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

• Analyze production logs and application metrics
• Work with AWS CloudWatch and RDS Performance Insights
• Coordinate with DevOps/infrastructure teams during incidents

API & Integration Management

• Optimize third-party integrations (NBFC APIs, bureau APIs, payment gateways, etc.)
• Improve API retry, timeout, and queue handling mechanisms

Required Skills

Must Have

• Strong experience in PHP & Laravel
• Excellent understanding of MySQL
• Experience with:
• Query optimization
• Indexing
• Performance tuning
• Database design
• REST API architecture experience
• Production debugging skills
• Experience handling medium/high traffic applications

Good To Have

• Redis / caching implementation
• AWS exposure (EC2, RDS, CloudWatch)
• Queue systems & cron optimization
• Knowledge of fintech or lending platforms
• Understanding of microservices architecture
