Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Back End Developer based in Bengaluru, with an option for partial work from home. The Back End Developer will design, build, and maintain server-side logic to support scalable applications. Responsibilities include developing and optimizing APIs, collaborating with front-end developers, ensuring high performance and responsiveness of applications, troubleshooting issues, and implementing security best practices to protect data and systems.

You will be responsible for:

Designing and developing robust, scalable backend services and REST APIs

Building core marketplace modules: vendor management, listings, search and filtering, bookings, transactions, and notifications

Architecting and managing databases, data models, and query optimisation

Implementing authentication workflows, role-based access control, and security best practices

Integrating third-party services including payment gateways, storage, and communication tools

Ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability of backend infrastructure

Diagnosing issues, refactoring architecture, and maintaining code quality

Collaborating closely with frontend, design, and product teams

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys ownership, systems thinking, and building the infrastructure that powers consumer-facing platforms at scale.

Qualifications

23+ years of backend development experience in a production environment

Strong proficiency in Node.js and RESTful API design principles

Experience building backend systems for marketplaces or transactional platforms

Solid understanding of database design, indexing, and optimisation (MongoDB and/or SQL)

Hands-on experience with authentication systems (JWT, OAuth) and payment gateway integrations

Ability to deliver scalable, maintainable, well-documented code

Bonus

Familiarity with Flutter or experience collaborating directly with mobile teams

Experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda) and cloud infrastructure management

Exposure to multi-vendor platforms, wallets, or subscription billing systems

Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerisation (Docker), or serverless architectures

Knowledge of Firebase, Redis, or real-time event systems
