Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end data architecture for cross-product reporting solutions, including lakehouse/warehouse, streaming and batch pipelines, semantic layers, and BI.
• Define a canonical insurance data model spanning policy lifecycle, claims, billing, and accounting with conformed dimensions.
• Establish data contracts and versioned schemas; define event standards for lifecycle, claims, and accounting events.
• Design multi-tenant data security and isolation, including RBAC/ABAC, encryption, and compliance with SOC 2, GDPR, and PCI-DSS.
• Build data ingestion and transformation pipelines using streaming (Kafka/Event Hubs) and batch (ELT/ETL) with medallion architecture.
• Develop and manage the semantic layer (Power BI/Fabric/Looker) with reusable metrics.
• Implement data quality and observability frameworks, including SLAs/SLOs, lineage, monitoring, and reconciliation.
• Drive data governance and compliance, including metadata, cataloging, PII handling, retention, and audit trails.
• Optimize performance, reliability, and cost efficiency through partitioning, caching, and workload management.
• Define the data tooling roadmap using Azure ecosystem tools.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineers and analysts.
• Manage CI/CD for data pipelines, automated testing, schema versioning, and deployment workflows.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Business teams to deliver analytics solutions.

Mandatory Technical Skills (Priority Order)

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in data engineering/architecture, including 5+ years designing analytics platforms.
• Strong experience with lakehouse/warehouse architectures and event-driven pipelines (Kafka/Event Hubs).
• Expertise in data modeling (dimensional, star schema, Data Vault, canonical models).
• Hands-on experience with Azure data stack and Power BI.
• Strong understanding of insurance domain data (policy lifecycle, claims, premiums, reserves, broker accounting).
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, along with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills (mandatory).

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of reinsurance, bordereaux reporting, and regulatory requirements.
• Familiarity with DAMA-DMBOK practices and metric standardization.
• Certifications in Azure Data, Databricks, or Power BI.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
