You will be the goto expert forVMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter, NSXT, vSAN, and VCF (SDDC Manager)drivingavailability, performance, security, automation, DR, and crossstack integrations (backup, monitoring, SIEM, ITSM). This role partners with compute, network, storage, security, and application teams to delivermissioncritical private/hybrid cloud services. Key Responsibilities SDDC Platform Ownership Own daytoday reliability and roadmap forvSphere clusters (HA/DRS/EVC), ESXi hosts, vCenter, andVCF/SDDC Managerdomains where applicable. Governcapacity & performance(CPU/Memory/NUMA placement, reservations/shares/limits),rightsizing, andHCL compliance. Leadplatform lifecycle: upgrades, patching (ESXi/vCenter/NSXT/vSAN/firmware), interoperability/BOM alignment, and change management. Define and enforcegolden build patterns(templates, hardening, tags, policies). Networking (NSXT) & Connectivity Design/operateNSXT: T0/T1 routing, segments, NAT, DHCP, load balancer/WAF policies,DFW microsegmentation, IDS/IPS. Integrate with physical networks (VLANs, LACP, MTU/Jumbo frames, BGP/OSPF). Oversee traffic engineering for East/West and North/South paths and troubleshoot latency/packetloss. Storage & Data Services Architect and operatevSAN(policybased mgmt, dedupe/compression, stretched/2node/ROBO, HCI Mesh); integrate externalSAN/NAS(FC/iSCSI/NFS). Own storage performance and resilience characteristics (IOPS/throughput/latency, SPBM, fault domains, resync behaviors). Backup, Recovery & DR Define standards and operate enterprisebackup & recoveryfor VMs and applications (Veeam/Commvault/Rubrik/Cohesity). LeadDR strategyusingSRM/HCXor native tools; set/validateRPO/RTO, run DR drills, and maintain runbooks. Ensureimmutability/airgapping/Object Lockfor ransomware resilience. Security, Compliance & Risk Enforcehardening baselines(ESXi/vCenter/NSXT/vSAN),RBAC/least privilege, certificate lifecycle, TLS,vTPM, and encryption (at rest/in transit). Drivevulnerability management, CVE remediation, and audit readiness (e.g., ISO, SOC) with evidence management. Implementmicrosegmentation, network policies, and platform guardrails with policyascode where feasible. Automation & Observability Build automation for provisioning/operations withPowerCLI, Ansible, Terraform/Aria (vRA/vRO); create reusable modules and runbooks. Ownobservability:Aria Operations (vROps),Aria Ops for Logs (vRLI),Splunk/ELK,Prometheus/Grafanadashboards and SLO/SLIbased alerting. Reduce toil via eventdriven automation and autoremediation; govern CMDB accuracy and config drift control. Operations Excellence & Leadership ProvideL3/L4escalation and leadMajor Incidentresolution; deliver RCAs with preventive actions. Mentor engineers, define standards, run platform councils, and partner with Service Delivery forSLA/SLOhealth. Collaborate closely with app/middleware/DB/security teams for performance and resilience outcomes. Key skills required: 10+ yearsin data center/cloud operations with deepVMware SDDCexpertise. Compute:vSphere/ESXi/vCenter (clusters, HA/DRS/EVC, vMotion/Storage vMotion, maintenance mode, lifecycle). Network:NSXT(DFW, LB/WAF, VPN, Tier0/1, BGP/OSPF, NAT, segments), vDS, and integration with physical network. Storage:vSANdesign/operations (SPBM, dedupe/compression, stretched clusters), externalSAN/NAS(FC/iSCSI/NFS). DR/BCP:SRM/HCX, recovery plans, runbooks, DR drills;backupwith Veeam/Commvault/Rubrik/Cohesity incl. immutability. Automation:Strong withPowerCLI/PowerShell,Ansible, andTerraform/Aria; Git and CI/CD workflows. Observability:vROps, vRLI, Splunk/ELK/Grafana; capacity/performance tuning and RCA practice. Security/Compliance:Hardening, RBAC, certs/TLS, encryption, microsegmentation, vulnerability management. Excellent stakeholder communication, documentation, andITILIncident/Change/Problem experience.
