Assistant Plant Controller

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Deputy Plant Head to support the overall manufacturing operations of the plant of a multinational organization. The role is responsible for driving operational efficiency, production performance, quality standards, safety compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing function. The role is based near Kolhapur, Maharashtra.

Position : Deputy Plant Head (Foundry/Casting)

Reporting To : Plant Head

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership capabilities, deep manufacturing expertise, and a hands-on approach to managing complex production environments while contributing to the long-term growth and operational excellence of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Production Management

- Assist in planning, organizing, and managing day-to-day manufacturing operations to achieve production targets

- Oversee the complete manufacturing cycle from raw material planning and procurement to finished goods dispatch

- Monitor production schedules, workflows, and delivery timelines while ensuring quality compliance

- Implement process improvements to enhance productivity, efficiency, and operational performance

Team Leadership & Development

- Lead, mentor, and guide production and shop-floor teams

- Build a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning

- Conduct performance reviews and address team development requirements

- Support capability-building and succession planning initiatives

Quality Assurance

- Ensure adherence to quality standards and manufacturing processes across operations

- Work closely with the Quality team to minimize defects, reduce rework, and improve product quality

- Drive corrective and preventive actions for quality-related issues

- Support implementation of continuous improvement initiatives in quality systems

Health, Safety & Compliance

- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across the plant

- Ensure implementation of safety policies, procedures, and 6S practices (5S + Safety)

- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments

- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence

Resource & Cost Management

- Optimize utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and other resources

- Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure uninterrupted material availability

- Monitor manufacturing costs and support budget adherence

- Improve operational efficiency while minimizing waste and downtime

Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence

- Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and productivity enhancement

- Lead lean manufacturing and operational excellence initiatives

- Support machine selection, commissioning, and installation activities

- Drive digitalization, automation, and Industry 4.0 initiatives within the plant

- Contribute to factory setup, benchmarking, and CAPEX/new investment projects

Candidate Profile:

- Strong manufacturing leadership experience in complex production environments

- Hands-on operational approach with strong problem-solving capability

- Ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement initiatives

- Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, quality standards, and safety regulations

- Excellent communication, team management, and stakeholder coordination skills

Qualifications & Experience:

- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering

- 15+ years of experience in manufacturing operations

- Strong knowledge of production processes, testing systems, and manufacturing norms

- Experience in lean manufacturing, operational excellence, and process optimization preferred
