Position Overview

BNP Paribas Global Markets (India Bangalore) is looking for a TechLead to drive the migration and modernization of legacy Scalabased tools to a Python and OracleSQLbased architecture (COMPASS 2.0 & NEXT roadmap 202627). Reporting to the SDA Lead, you will design highperformance data solutions, refactor existing systems for efficiency and maintainability, and work closely with crossfunctional teams (MO, CC Governance, Sales) across multiple geographies. The role blends strong technical leadership, handson development, and mentorship of midlevel engineers.

Job Responsibilities

Core / Direct

• Gather and analyze business requirements; propose scalable technical solutions.
• Design endtoend data architectures and flows that integrate smoothly with existing platforms.
• Architect, develop, and optimize highthroughput data pipelines in Python (Pandas, NumPy) and Oracle SQL/PLSQL.
• Refactor legacy Scala applications into maintainable Python/SQL services.
• Collect, transform, and analyze data from multiple sources to produce clientcontribution and revenueanalysis metrics.
• Automate recurring tasks and build tooling to improve application support and evolution.
• Enhance overall application architecture to raise service quality for business users.
• Prioritize and manage workload, balancing urgent operational needs with longterm roadmap objectives.
• Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues; implement preventive fixes.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Contributing / Collaborative

• Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, demos).
• Mentor midlevel developers, conduct code reviews and enforce best practices.
• Collaborate with global teams (Paris, London, New York, Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong) to ensure data integrity and alignment with global strategy.
• Explore emerging technologies (datawarehousing, AI/Agentic tools, Tableau/Power BI, ELK Stack, ML libraries) that could add value to the platform.

Required Education, Skills and Experience (MustHave)

• Education Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent).
• Professional Experience Minimum 5 years in software development or dataengineering roles.
• Database Expertise Advanced proficiency with Oracle SQL / PLSQL (query tuning, indexing, partitioning, storedprocedure optimization).
• Programming Expertlevel Python skills; handson experience with Pandas and NumPy for data manipulation and ETL processes.
• DataAnalysis Ability to extract insights, perform data mining, and manage endtoend data flows.
• Leadership Proven experience leading a small development team, mentoring junior/midlevel engineers, and driving technical decisions.
• Agile Delivery Experience working in Scrum/Agile environments; comfortable managing backlogs and sprint commitments.
• Communication Strong verbal and written skills; capable of translating technical concepts for nontechnical audiences.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience (NicetoHave)

• Advanced degree (Masters) or professional certifications (Oracle Certified Professional, AWS/Azure Data Engineer, etc.).
• Datawarehouse experience (Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query, Oracle Exadata).
• Exposure to AI/Agentic tools or generativeAI frameworks.
• Proficiency with businessintelligence tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Familiarity with the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) for logging and monitoring.
• Experience with machinelearning libraries (scikitlearn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and basic statistical modelling.
• Knowledge of additional programming languages (Scala, Java) to aid legacy code understanding.
• Handson experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) and services like Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, Lambda.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes.
