Artificial Intelligence Engineer

We are hiring a Staff GenAI Engineer / Staff Software Engineer for one of our leading clients in Mumbai. This role requires strong backend engineering expertise along with hands-on experience in building and deploying Generative AI solutions in production.

The ideal candidate will take ownership of architecture, system scalability, GenAI implementation, and technical mentorship across teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and development of scalable backend systems integrating ML and Generative AI models.
• Build and deploy LLM-based solutions, including RAG architectures and agentic workflows.
• Design and implement agentic AI systems supporting multi-step reasoning, tool calling, memory management, and orchestration.
• Collaborate with data science teams to fine-tune, evaluate, and deploy ML/AI models.
• Develop backend microservices and APIs supporting AI-driven applications.
• Work with structured/unstructured datasets and design efficient data pipelines.
• Ensure production readiness including performance optimization, monitoring, cost control, and security.
• Define cloud deployment strategies across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Establish containerized deployment practices using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Work with databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB ensuring performance and integrity.
• Implement logging, monitoring, and observability frameworks for operational excellence.

Technical Leadership & Ownership

• Act as a DRI for architectural initiatives and system blueprints.
• Own design documentation, migration planning, and best practices.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical coaching.
• Drive cross-team collaboration and break large initiatives into MVPs/epics.
• Support hiring processes including interview design and candidate evaluation.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering with strong backend development in Python.
• Proven experience delivering AI/ML or Generative AI systems in production.
• Strong understanding of ML concepts (classification, regression, clustering, neural networks, probabilistic models, etc.).
• Experience with GenAI frameworks like LangChain, Google ADK, or other agent development kits.
• Strong expertise in cloud-native architectures, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or equivalent databases.
• Experience using AI-native developer tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, etc.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a client-facing environment.
