Job Description

Architect Edge AI & Robotics

Help shape the future of mobility.

Imagine a world with zero vehicle accidents, zero vehicle emissions, and wireless vehicle connectivity all around us. Every day, we move closer to making that world a reality. Aptiv’s passionate team of engineers and developers creates advanced safety systems, high-performance electrification solutions and data connectivity solutions so that automakers can bring advanced capabilities to more people around the globe. This is how we enable sustainable mobility and help to prevent accidents caused by human error.

Your Role

Robotics Architecture & Development

· Design and implement robotics software stacks spanning perception, localization, planning, control, and system integration.

· Lead system-level architecture decisions across software, middleware, hardware, and cloud/edge interfaces.

· Optimize performance, latency, power, and memory utilization on CPU/GPU/NPU/DSP-based platforms.

· Contribute hands-on code in C/C++ and Python for robotics and embeded workloads.

· Integrate solutions using ROS 2, DDS middleware, real-time Linux, and RTOS environments.

· Define clean interfaces and modular designs to enable scalability across robot classes (AMRs and Drones).

· Collaborate with hardware teams to influence sensor, compute, and system design trade-offs.

Edge AI & ML Deployment

· Deploy and optimize AI/ML models on embedded and edge platforms using frameworks such as TensorRT, ONNX, OpenVINO, TFLite or comparable runtimes.

· Support model compression, quantization, and acceleration strategies for edge deployment.

· Develop and optimize edge AI pipelines for real-time inference on embedded, edge and heterogeneous compute platforms.

· Evaluate trade-offs between onboard intelligence and cloud-assisted workflows.

Testing, Validation & Production Readiness

· Integrate simulation and testing workflows using Gazebo, Isaac, or similar environments.

· Define and execute validation strategies for autonomy performance, robustness, and safety.

· Support transition from R&D prototypes to production-ready, industrialized solutions.

Your Background

Key ingredients for succeeding in this role are your:

· Master’s degree (or PhD) in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

· Strong hands-on experience developing robotics or autonomous systems software.

· Proficiency in C/C++ for real-time and embedded applications.

· Solid understanding of robotics fundamentals.

· Experience training, deploying and optimizing AI workloads on embedded and edge AI platforms.

· Familiarity with Linux-based and RTOS embedded systems and cross-compilation workflows.

· Ability to work effectively across disciplines and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

---

Preferred Qualifications

· Proficiency in additional languages like Python and Rust

· Experience with ROS 2, DDS middleware, and real-time systems.

· Hands-on experience with heterogeneous embedded compute and SoC platforms (e.g., NVIDIA, Qualcomm, TI, Renesas, NXP or similar).

· Background in simulation-driven development, scenario-based testing, or digital twins.

· Track record of delivering production-grade robotics or edge AI systems.
