Summary:
As a PostgreSQL Configuration & Administration, a typical day involves acting as a software detective by diligently monitoring and investigating issues across various critical business systems. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying problems, analyzing system behaviors, and ensuring smooth operation of multiple interconnected components. The position demands continuous engagement with system performance and user feedback to maintain service reliability and support business continuity effectively.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide L1/L2 operational support for PostgreSQL DB databases used by enterprise applications.
- Act as the primary point of contact for database related incidents, service requests, and user issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve PostgreSQL DB issues related to availability, connectivity, performance, capacity, and data access within defined SLAs.
- Participate in on call and shift based support rotations as part of the infrastructure operations model.
- Coordinate with application, infrastructure, cloud, and network teams during major incidents and outages
- Identify performance issues such as slow queries, index inefficiencies, or resource constraints and take corrective actions.
- Proactively detect potential issues and raise risks before they impact users or applications.
- Monitor PostgreSQL DB instances using enterprise monitoring and alerting tools.
- Support PostgreSQL DB patching, version upgrades, and maintenance activities as per infrastructure standards.
- Follow ITIL aligned processes for incident, change, and problem management.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring PostgreSQL DB incidents.
- Implement preventive actions to reduce repeat operational issues.
- Maintain accurate incident records and operational metrics for reporting.
Professional & Technical Skills:
- Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in PostgreSQL Administration.
- Secondary Skills: Cloud Fundamentals (AWS) , DB Monitoring Tools, Unix/Linux, Shell scripting , Cloud Migration experience
- Experience in database performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and security management.
- Strong understanding of database architecture and data integrity principles.
- Ability to monitor and optimize database operations to support high availability and scalability.
- Familiarity with scripting languages to automate routine database tasks.
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex database issues in production environments.
Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 3 years of experience in PostgreSQL Administration.
- This position is based at our Mumbai office.
- Flexible to work in Shifts during weekday & Weekend during India hours (7 AM - 10 PM IST)
- A 15 years full time education is required.
