From Product Manager at Facebook, Uber, and Tesla to Founder: Embracing Failure as a Path to Success

As a seasoned product manager and entrepreneur with experience at Facebook, Uber, and Tesla, I've learned that great things are never built by those who knew how to do them all along, but by those who have the resilience and grit to try, fail, iterate towards their mission.

  • 11. The side project gained traction and started generating significant revenue, eventually leading to the founding of Morelabs.
  • 12. The first two years of Morelabs were a whirlwind of growth, hiring, and attempting to raise funds.
  • 13. In the third year, Sisun decided to focus on building a technology-driven e-commerce business rather than following the Red Bull model, which he later realized was not the best fit for the company
  • 14. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Morelabs' revenue dropped by 90%, and the initial plan was to cut costs significantly, including laying off employees.
  • 15. However, they decided against it to maintain company culture and morale, instead focusing on ruthless prioritization and saying no to non-essential projects.
  • 16. Sisun stepped down as CEO when he realized his intrinsic passion lay in technology and product management rather than sales and marketing.
  • 17. Transitioned the role to a qualified internal candidate who was already leading the retail organization, ensuring a smooth handover without any departures from the team.
  • 18. Sisun took time off to explore and rediscover his interests after leaving Morelabs.
  • 19. He is now considering new ventures that align with his passions, focusing on novelty and exploration.
